Dr James Dossan

Practice Owner (Bachelor of Veterinary Science 1991 Sydney University)

Dr James Dossan is one of the three practice directors and a veterinarian. James graduated from vet school in 1991 from Sydney University. James’ interest in animals and science lead him to becoming a vet.  

Out of work, James enjoys comedy, reading and sports, especially soccer, but most of all he enjoys getting outdoors and enjoying nature. 

 James has 3 dogs, “Wirra” & “Daisy”, both Miniature Schnauzers, and “Maggie” an Australian Silky Terrier. 

Dr Adam Evans

Practice Owner (BVMS BSc 2000)

Dr Adam Evans is one of the three practice directors and a veterinarian. Adam grew up around horses and other pets and has always wanted a job working with animals. Initially Adam wanted to be a horse vet but he later found small animal work to be more interesting and rewarding. He is especially interested in surgery and orthopaedics. 

Adam and wife Dr Anna Evans have 2 sons, Matthew and Griffin, as well as 2 cats “Charlie Brown” and “Demon”, and “Rosie”, a rescue Greyhound.

Practice Owner (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery 2000)

Dr Anna Evans is one of the three practice directors and a veterinarian. Anna grew up on a farm which led to an to interest in animals.   Once qualified, she went into a mixed practice (both small and large animal), but then decided that small animals were her true love. 

Anna and husband Dr Adam Evans have 2 sons, Matthew and Griffin, as well as 2 cats “Charlie Brown” and “Demon”, and “Rosie”, a rescue Greyhound.

Veterinarian (BVMS BSc(hons))

Markus has been part of the Ascot team since graduating from Murdoch University in 2008. He really enjoys the challenges of both medicine and surgery, in particular soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries. 

Having a young family, Markus prioritises a healthy work and family life balance. 

Markus has a dog, “Bill” the Blue heeler X Kelpie, who loves walks along the river.

Veterinarian (BVMS BSc, Murdoch)

Dr Milad Keihani graduated from Murdoch University with Distinction and worked in Fremantle for 4 years before joining Ascot Veterinary Hospital.  Milad’s love for animals all started when his family welcomed “Ollie”, a Toy Poodle, into their lives. His special interests lie in small animal dermatology and canine medicine.

Milad was born and raised in Fremantle. He comes from a large Persian family and is fluent in speaking Farsi (Persian). Any spare time Milad gets, he likes to spend keeping fit at the gym, relaxing with friends, playing the piano or volunteering in junior youth empowerment programs.

Veterinarian (BVMS BSc )

Catherine graduated in 2013 and has worked in mixed practice all over Australia before coming to Ascot Veterinary Hospital.  Catherine is passionate about providing a high level of care to her patients and has a particular interest in Veterinary Ultrasound.  Outside of work Catherine enjoys baking, and spending time with her young nephew and niece and her cat “Felicity” 

Dr Nicholas Lai

Veterinarian (Bachelor of Veterinary Science, University of Sydney)

Nic graduated from the University of Sydney and moved to WA to complete an internship at Perth Veterinary Specialists. This has given Nic valuable experience with some of the best specialists in Perth.  Nic enjoys nothing more than a tricky medical problem, especially neurology and oncology cases. He has also worked in various veterinary settings in Singapore, Hong Kong and Kathmandu.  Nic is a keen tennis player outside of work and also loves whipping up desserts and pastries in the kitchen.  He is also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

Receptionist (Certificate in Veterinary Nursing 2008)

Elissia started working for a wildlife park in 2002, and then completed her Veterinary Nursing qualifications. 

Elissia has now been working in the veterinary industry for over 10 years. She brings experience to our team and fills the role of senior receptionist. Elissia strives to ensure our customer service standards remain at the very highest level they can be. 

Elissia has 4 cats, several birds, fish, and even reptiles at home. 

Andrea Baskerville

Head Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Andrea is one of our Senior Nurses here at Ascot Veterinary Hospital.  She  began working in the Veterinary industry as a kennel hand during high school and fell in love with being able to nurse animals back to health, realising this was the career for her. She has now been a qualified veterinary nurse for the past 17 years. 

Andrea and her husband Brad share their home with  “Stellah Bellah”, a Mastiff X and 2 cats. 

Deanna Moody

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing 2011)

Deanna worked as a wildlife keeper for 6 years in Tropical North Queensland, but she decided she required a more challenging career path so pursued veterinary nursing. Nursing offered a wide variety of new skills and most of all a challenge within the animal industry. Deanna relocated to Perth in 2011 to study a full time for her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.  She enjoyed Perth and the lifestyle too much to move back to Queensland as originally planned. Deanna has a poodle named Pablo and 2 cats. 

Emma Carrick

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Emma came to Australia in 2007 as a working backpacker from England. She decided she loved the country too much to leave, and decided to combine her love of Australia and animals and stay here to study to become a vet nurse.  She is very passionate about animal welfare and is closely linked with several rescue groups in Perth. 

Emma has two animals (both rescues) a Staffy X named ‘Poppy’ and a kitten named ‘Rupert’.

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing 2011)

Emily has been nursing at Ascot since January 2014. She made the big move to Perth from the country, where she previously worked in a mixed practice for 5 years. 

 Three Pomeranians rule her household; Roy, Abbey and Chester, along with one temperamental tabby “Toots” and two fat rabbits. 

Jenna Baston

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing 2014)

Graduating from AVT in December 2014, Jenna is now a part time member of the Ascot team. Jenna has a great love for animals, having previously been a horse riding instructor. 

She owns a horse called ’Cooper’ and has recently added to her animal family with a rescue Staffy Cross called ‘Gnarly’.

Veterinary Nurse (Bachelor of Science, PhD Animal Science, Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing.)

After first perusing a degree in Animal Science and a PhD in Animal Health (working with alpacas!), Kelsie realised that the research life wasn’t for her and went back to her roots of a general love of working with animals. Graduating from AVT in December 2015, Kelsie is now a full time member of the Ascot team. She has a love for the doe-eyed gun dogs and has one and a half Cocker Spaniels, delightful Jasper and the more mischievous Chewie

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Ben came to Ascot Veterinary Hospital as a student in 2016.  We loved having Ben at the hospital so kept him on when he graduated from AVT.  He now works part time at Ascot. Ben has 3 cats that he has adopted and raised himself. Ben is a keen chef and loves sharing his creations with the Ascot Team.

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing )

Alison graduated from Bentley TAFE in December 2012, and came to work with us in June 2015. She has always had a great love for animals and previously worked as an animal keeper in a wildlife park. 

Her home is full of many pets including 2 dogs, a cheeky Frenchie named “Dobby”, a elderly Kelpie X called “Ellie”, a rescue cat named  ”CT”, and many parrots including a Gang-Gang cockatoo named “Sisco”.

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Jean first came to us as a veterinary nursing student in 2017 . Realising her strong potential we have Jean now working for us on a casual basis. Jean has a house full of animals including a Maltese X “Kesha”, “Bosco”, a fox terrier x jack Russell, and cats Billy and Pepper. When not at work Jean can be found burning up the netball court.

Amanda works on reception for us on a casual basis. Amanda is also very interested in animal behaviour and training so also works as one of our puppy class leaders.
